Chris Mannix believes Ainge will make a trade & believes the Celtics can package enough for Jimmy Butler, Demarcus Cousins,or Paul George.

We may be a bit disappointed the Celtics didn’t land a top 2 pick in the draft, but Chris Mannix believes the Cs have enough assets to score an established player.

I missed the actual interview on Toucher and Rich but I believe the asset package centered around the 3rd pick in 2016, 2017 1st rounder and Jae Crowder. I would include those assets (and more) in any deal for George and Cousins. I wouldn’t feel the need to sweeten the pot anymore for Butler.

I would like to see us take Bender, package draft picks to be able to take Buddy Hield. Then go for some free agents.

  I would hate to see us take Bender. In this era of small ball, I don’t think it’s smart to take a 7 foot unproven Euro, but that’s just me

    It isn’t just you. Bender hasn’t produced – anywhere. You’d like something more at 3 than a guy who hasn’t done squat that a few scouts love. He is Yi Jianlian all over again.

      saying “hasn’t produced-anywhere” referred to a 18 y.o. kid is kind of weird. Bender is a 7 footer with range and that’s exactly what works in modern basketball. Will he succeed in the NBA environment? Hard to tell. We know he’s got potential and most importantly: he has work ethic.

        It absolutely amazes me how people are willing to overlook 2.1 ppg in a middling Euro league and wait multiple years for a player whose body of work has nothing in it to suggest he will ever play meaningful NBA minutes.
        
        If that’s all you can get with the third pick in this draft, it should be traded.

        What I am suggesting is that the Croatian kid has some skills, has a pro mentality and respects the game. Is this enought to make him a relevant player in the NBA? I honestly don’t know.
        Anyways, my understanding is that Danny will explore any possible trade that involves the #3 pick (and I think it would have been the same in case of grabbing #1 or #2). Should deals not work out, then he will draft some kid.
        We need to hope something good comes out of these trade talks because we all know that Danny is good at trades, not so much at drafting kids.

  Were Pacers talent wise worse than Celtics this year playoffs? Did they get past 1st round? Or we expect Stevens magic to power this team further with PG?

    Well, PG13 was dominant in that first round series against the Raptors. In fact he took them down almost by himself. Trading the pick for an established and young top 10 player would be a huge deal.

Pass on Cousins. If u want him, wait til hes a free agent next summer. Keep the assets for other deals

I can’t imagine Larry Bird sending Paul George to Danny Ainge. Maybe I’m wrong but I can’t see it! I’d like to see Marvelous DeMarcus in Green! Instant contenders!

–George is by far the best of the three, and the only one worth pursuing…but, Bird isn`t McHale. Bird`s way too competitive, he`d never allow the possibility of Ainge succeeding at his expense. It`ll never happen.

–Boston should draft Hield…he`s a keeper, perhaps the best 3-pt shooter in America today not named Steph Curry. Pretty decent guards…Hield/AB/IT.

–After drafting Hield, put together a trade package for some size…just make damn the trade package includes Smart, Sullinger, Olynuk. Time to get rid of at least some of the garbage around here!

I’d pass on Butler, George isn’t going anywhere, and the Kings aren’t gonna trade Big Cuz with a new coach coming in.

Two Nets picks (including the #3 overall this draft) for Paul George (or Demarcus, or Jimmy Butler) doesn’t leave us with enough to get past Cleveland, then whoever makes it out of the West, unless you can sign a monster FA. This seems dangerous to me.

The Celtics need to hang on to the future Nets picks in these deals. We need some way to add the second star as banking on free agency to get us there is idiotic given our non-existent history as a popular destination for top tier talent.

My offer for any of these three mentioned stars:
#3 pick
Jae Crowder
Choice of #23 pick or #31 and #35
Choice of RJ Hunter/James Young
Choice of Kelly Olynyk/Terry Rozier

I think this offer trumps the Lakers #2 pick (should they decide to trade it) and Philly is in no position to deal their #1 pick in a win-now maneuver.

If we keep the pick, I think Jamal Murray is best availavle at #3. He doesn’t solve our problems, but he is fun to watch, will have immense trade value, and makes it easy to part with Smart.

Pretty much any trade that gets us Paul George and doesn’t cost us Isaiah Thomas is fantastic. Then add a big in free agency (might need to wait a year which is fine by me), fill in gaps with role players, continue to develop existing talent, contend with Cleveland.
