Celtics 6th in new power rankings?

Chuck - Red's Army November 16, 2015 Celtics News 7 Comments

Power Rankings

These rankings come from NBA.com’s John Schumann who also names the C’s the:

Hero team of the week: Boston (3-1) — Despite a couple of injuries in their backcourt, the Celtics have won four of their last five games, and the only one of the wins that wasn’t against a 2015 playoff team was in Oklahoma City on Sunday.

I don’t care that we’re only two weeks into the season. We’re 6th. 6th! Let that sink in. It’s probably been 3-4 years since we’ve reached this point on any sort of power rankings.

Here’s another number for you: 4. The C’s rank 4th in the league in defensive efficiency. They’re giving up 94.4 points per 100 possessions.

Be honest, these numbers have you like:

just starting to get it rolling! Lets go C’s! I want that 4 seed lol

      Why the 4 seed?

      • KGino

Mainly for the perception that we are a top 4 team in the East. If we can’t attract free agents with the location, we can at least boast a top 4 team in the conference a piece or two away from contending with an up and coming coach, functional management, and storied history with a bright future (all those draft picks coming in). Not a bad setup if you can handle the winter.

Plus if THIS team finishes a 4 seed, that basically means BS will eventually be the GOAT :P

Celtics aren’t getting “flukey” wins either. They are truly dominant in certain important categories. That speaks to the strength of the schemes and playstyle implemented by Stephens, as well as the culture of the team. In other words, this schizz is absolutely sustainable over the course of a season.

I’d like to think we contributed to this ranking in some way, helping Brad understand issues and opportunities in his various schemes.

    You’re welcome, Brad Stevens!
