Hold the phone… the Celtics ain’t done yet

I know what you’re all thinking: Danny Ainge is going to swoop in and steal LeBron James from Cleveland.

On second thought, the Chosen One just made his choice.

Aside from the Clippers-Mavs fiasco, most of the reported free-agent signings are being finalized today. We’ve learned that Tim Duncan is going to play for a measly $5 million this season.

So who is Danny Ainge exploring? Give me names, people.

Danilo Gallinari is on the block and would be a logical target for the Celtics. He is coming off of a down year, is a FA after this upcoming season (maintains flexibility) and with the Nuggets rebuilding, could most likely be had for a pair of second rounders and/or a single player, as long as the Celtics and Nuggets can match salaries.

    • MadLad

If my memory is correct (rarely is) i thought he looked slow and weak last year coming off that injury(s). Not sure hes explosive enough going to the rim to set up his jumper. But to your point, if its the right price…then sure. why not.

      • Shane

He was a step slow and his numbers did suffer as a result. The hope would be that the Celtics would then get him at a lower price and that another year removed from ACL surgery would allow him to have a bounce back year. Buy low, essentially.

  • BigHog

    Gallo would thrive with Stevens.

Gallos shooting is exactly what thos team needs. A legit floor spacer.

Only real worry with Gallo is the health. Depending what we have to pony up, i think hes worth the risk.

    • Curt Hays

Joey Gallo? The Texas Rangers just sent him back down to play for another stint with the Rough Riders. I’m not sure Stevens could help him.

      • jrleftfoot

I thought he died in a shootout with the Manhattan mob.

        • Peter

in front of Umbertos, on Mulberry st., LOL

  • je

package david lee and a couple of picks for carmelo

    • Sean McLaughlin

      meh….

    • Karl Green

      hell no

  • Jester00

Jason Kapono, Fab Melo, or Frank Grimes

  • Rick Rice

    That’s all you got Chuck?

  • Curt Hays

Who else is afraid that Danny is going to trade Amir for Nate Robinson?

  • Clubber Lang

look at Sully’s twitter. it’s speculation fuel.

  • Karl Green

Really wish we has got greg monroe to go with david lee. Plus the shooter. we need the shooter. I think we should have used the 45th on upshaw who might have become the hassan whiteside for us. dont give up on young hes just that young still 19.

    • C M

I”m with you. We should have used the 45th for Upshaw. I think he would have had, more of a chance to make our team.

      • Sean

        He’s a nutcase though.

        • C M

I know Sean but it wouldn’t have girt to have him in our camp to observe first hand. Thirnton won’t make the team and I’m still puzzled why we took him

  • RedsLoveChild

    Who could it be?

Is there any guy out there shorter than IT at 5`9″?
If so, that`s the guy Ainge will relentlessly pursue!

    • adam

      LOL!!!

  • MadLad

    JaVale McGee is my guess.

    • BigHog

      We could use the size

    • C M

I hope we talk to McGee. He’s the poor man’s Cousins

      • Peter

The homeless, alcoholic mans Cousins, maybe

  • Frank Aziza

Would u people really want Lebron after all the years of hatred? I can’t stomach him and wouldn’t watch a game if he came to Boston

    • MadLad

Thats so silly. If hes wearing the green uni, and plays to win…no one gives a sht who it is. Especially if its the best player on the planet.

    • Mike Spoon

I’m with you. I wouldn’t be able to cheer for him. I would rather lose to him than root for him. I know it’s irrational, but sports is the one place where irrationality is generally acceptable (out of fans at least).

    • Skibum

I’d rather die than root for lebron. .

      • Frank Aziza

        Me too.

    • Sean McLaughlin

Did ya hate shaq when he played for us? Hell yeah I’d root for Lebron if he wore green. That’s part of being a Celtics fan. You embrace whoever decides to play for us.

      • Skibum

Shaq was the fucking man! Lebron is a complete doosher. I’m glad he will never come to Boston so I don’t have to pretend that I like him.

        • Sean McLaughlin

While you’re right about that last sentence, I think you would change your tune if he was putting up the numbers in Boston that he has in CLE/MIA and brought us to at least the finals every year… See how CLE fans have changed their mind since he came back? We would, too, I’m certain.

          • KGino

Nope. Lebron joins the C’s, I’m out til he’s gone

          • Frank Aziza

            Love it.

          • jrleftfoot

That`s o.k. Lebron would addmore value to the franchise than all the potential message board quitters

          • Sean McLaughlin

Well, I hear the Lakers are looking to add some solid, sometimey fans.

          • KGino

Do you guys even watch Lebron play? Constantly shitting on his teammates, harping on himself, flopping, complaining to refs, undermining his coach, being a gigantic baby. If you guys are REALLY that desperate to win, fine… But I would never sell the soul of my franchise for that douche, even if he brought us to the Finals every God damn year. Maybe you should evaluate your celtics fandom if you don’t agree.

          • Frank Aziza

Not me. I’m old fashioned… It’s just been to much disdain for him. He’s a cavalier, it’s different for those fans to forgive him.

        • zapatatio

Well, le queen is MVP, of the all ego team! That must count for something….totally negative!

      • Frank Aziza

Shaq was a lovable guy. I wanted him to lose as a Laker but I never had such hatred for him. If u would root for Lebron in Boston then you shouldn’t mind him forming super teams every time he loses. As Celtic fans we’ve watched and wanted him to lose every game since his 2011 decision. I don’t think we’ve ever wanted a player to lose that much. My basketball life is devoted to him losing.

      • Peter

I would drive to cleveland, tonight. In a limo, drop him off in Garden, lol

    • zippittyay

      Satan with a basketball

  • forever_green

Where’s the DeAndre Jordan has third thoughts thread?

    • Curt Hays

CONFIRMED: DeAndre Jordan to the Celtics for 6 years at the vet minimum. Danny Ainge has promised him chocolate milk in the water fountains.

  • Sean

I know this may sound dumb, but I’m hoping for Larry Sanders or anything that gets Turner outta here.

    • Sean McLaughlin

Has Larry said he’s coming back to the NBA? Last I knew he quit basketball entirely…

      • Sean

Hes about to do Drew League

    • jgtwentysix

I’d take a shot on Larry Sanders too if he’s coming back. As far as Turner, I disagree. He proved his worth last year on a cheap contract, he was our best crunch time scorer. I think there will be less of him at the point this year, seems they really want Smart to run with that. I’m actually hoping they trade Avery, I think he’s gonna peak at “pretty good” but other teams still probably like him and his contract isn’t bad after what guys got this offseason.

      • Sean

Avery can play defense and is arguably on a better contract with the cap rising. I hated turner before he came to the celtics. Every time he handles the ball he looks like a walking turnover. But I agree about smart and his ball handling and playmaking looks better in Utah too so far.

  • C M

I like Sanders but his mental stability is questionable

    • Sean

Yea and he might be high all 82 games but he’s taller than 6’9

  • Sean

At least Smart is ballin in summer league.
