Your Morning Dump… Where training camp can’t get here soon enough!

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big story line. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.

If you ever wanted to see Danny Ainge, Isaiah Thomas and Gerald Green appear in a rap video together, James the Mormon (fantastic name) recently turned your long-shot dream into reality with the BYU anthem “Tellin You Y.”

The trio of Boston Celtics figures have a brief cameo at the 0:27 mark of the video. Standing in the Celtics practice facility with a bundle of banners behind them, Ainge, Thomas and Green point at the camera and sing along with the song.

If you ever wanted to see Danny Ainge in a rap video, period, you need to rethink many, many, many of your life choices so far.

The above article is evidence that just when you think you’ve reached the bottom of the barrel, the off-season serves up yet another slow news day leaving you scratching your head and wondering, ‘who exactly thought this was a good idea?’

I mean, I’m sure there is a subset of BYU fans and students who are going to just eat this up, and frankly, who am I to begrudge anyone else’s apparently innocuous idea of a good time? However, yikes. Congrats to Danny for being willing to do something for the alma mater, but why didn’t they call up Jim McMahon instead?

*Blanchard Middle School, that is.

Kelly Olynyk, apparently not to be outdone by Isaiah Thomas in the “doing really nice things for kids” department, stopped by a middle school in Westford as part of a Celtics promotion. Feel like entering their next contest? Click here.

Page 3: Where Marcus Smart is also having fun with kids

Check out the kid draining an NBA three-pointer (or just about) at the 1:00 mark.

No word yet if Marcus has since hired him as a personal shooting coach.

Fun fact*: the Russian Thistle, or tumbleweed, is not native to the American west. It is an invasive species.

So wait, we have an embedded link of Smart and Kelly, but not DA’s earthshattering rap? Way to bury the lead.

      Fixed.

I was just trying to spare folks the horror/impose my own tastes.

For those who don’t want to listen to the type of rap that further perpetuates the myth that all rap is awful, they appear at the :28 second mark.

  • RedsLoveChild

When asked to appear in this stupid video…..Jim McMahon, Steve Young, and Jimmer Fredette all had the good sense to decline.

  • zippittyay

I’m in no way a qualified critic of hip-hop or rap or whatever they call that, but that video clearly exceeded my expectations I had before I watched it. Considering the subject matter and the inferred limitations therein, I thought it was pretty darn good.

Well Scooby Doo can doo doo, but Jimmy Carter is smarter.

      Great episode.

I love all kinds of music and listen to a lot of rap, but that was really bad. Memo to Danny & the boys: keep your day job.

I don’t get why there’s so much hate on Russian Thistle though. It is a huge help in drought stricken areas when erosion is a concern.
