Smart, Johnson miss practice, Isaiah Thomas wants changes

amir johnson pacers

Not great injury news for the Celtics. Smart being out triggers a weird domino effect that I don’t really like.  And Johnson being out makes life much more difficult on Isaiah Thomas. If there’s no Smart OR Johnson, then I find it hard to believe the Celtics will start Thomas against the Wizards and all of their high-powered guards. The best chance may be to start Turner and hope he can use his size against Washington, or… Terry Rozier and hope beyond hope that he can hold his own. This is triggering a lot of changes… and maybe not the changes Isaiah Thomas was talking about today

Panic after four games? Let’s not get crazy. Things aren’t quite going as smoothly as many of us thought they might, but there’s still more than enough time to mix up some of these lineups… or for some guys to pull out of their slumps.

I’m not sure if that accountability line is just a thing that athletes say… or if there’s some sort of issue. I’ll just chalk it up as the former, but let’s just keep some tabs on this for the future.

Our team has no wetness! IT is wet, RJ Hunter is wet but he’s a rookie, and AB is inconsistenly wet and Smart has shown flashes of wetness. Other than that, no wetness. I cringe every time I watch AJ, Sully, ET, Crowder, KO etc take a 3.

And to make matters worse, we’re missing lots of easy shots on the paint. Zeller and Lee and AJ need to get wetter down there.

I guess it’s a good thing we’re leading the league in pace (or were before last night) and tops in fast break points… We need all the easy buckets we can get!

Amir Johnson can shoot threes. You shouldn’t be cringing when he shoots, you should be hoping he gets more open looks.

Crowder and KO have to keep taking them, and hopefully start making them. Sully and ET should do it less.

No one was debating if they should be taking them, my point was they’re not wet enough. If they were, we’d win a lot more games.

AJ can shoot 3’s? Were talking about a guy who has 100 career attempts, give or take (in 10+ NBA seasons!). 33% on his career. So yes I cringe when our 6’10” Power Forward who’s taken 100 career 3’s in 10 seasons and shoots 33% shoots a 3. So no, neither I nor you should be hoping he gets more open looks from down town.

Amir can shoot them, so can Kelly, Sully, and Jonas, but if they’re bricking 3s, then who is rebounding them? Rondo was the only guy we had to rebound in those situations. We don’t need him back. But we also don’t rebound.
