Thanks to Mavs owner Mark Cuban’s silly comments about drafting Brittney Griner, NBA executives, coaches and players are now being asked whether a woman could play in the NBA.

Here’s what Paul Pierce had to say:

“I think it will be a little difficult, just because of the physicality of the sport,” said Pierce, who has watched the many highlights of Griner. “The men are much faster, much stronger and much more athletic. Will it happen one day? I don’t know. They have a women’s league, where they are the best women in the world. Honestly, I can’t tell you if I can see a woman right now playing in the NBA. Not in the next couple of years. No.”

The truth from the Truth. It’s not sexist to say (most) men are faster, bigger and stronger. It’s sexist to say women shouldn’t play regardless of their athleticism. We’ll leave that stuff to golf.

Now go in the kitchen and make me some bacon and eggs.

After watching a half of the NCAA Women’s championship game, I can confidently answer that it will definitely not happen in my lifetime.

    That’s entirely false, but it doesn’t require the athleticism that would restrict women.

I think it won’t happen for 2 reasons:

1) As Pierce and every sane person commenting on this subject has mentioned female basketball players just aren’t strong or fast enough to compete in the NBA on a nightly basis

2) Even if there were a female specimen that was as strong, fast and skilled as an NBA player I’m pretty sure she would much rather dominate in the WNBA than be a rotation player or a bench warmer in the NBA

Not to mention any team drafting Grimes or anyone else in the future for that matter would probably be doing it as a publicity stunt and having an owner with that kind of a mentality is not a very good sign for the team’s championship chances.

They’re already making rules softer as it is now. If a woman enter the league, sad to say, but they’d probably making every foul a flagrant and the physicality of the game will be gone…There’s already a league for women in the WNBA..let’s keep it like that for now.

Here’s my completely foolproof and ethical plan to get a woman into the NBA:

1. Find a male and female basketball player, both strong and athletic. They don’t need to be excellent basketball players, but should have all the tools, like tall and big hands. Select for intangibles like “great trash talker”, “hypercompetitive”, or “performs well under pressure” if possible. Make them fall in love and get married.

2. Have them make at least five children. (This increases the probability of having a girl and also of having one or two exceptional basketball players.) Ten children is preferable but let’s be realistic here.

3. Lace the children’s milk, juice, other ingestible fluids with HGH prior to and during puberty. (Also consider deer antler powder. Also anything that gives you big muscles.) Train children by making them play high-stakes pickup games against each other regardless of age or gender.

4. Profit.

Who would be apposed to someone like Brittney Griner being signed to play in the summer league. I agree with the points made by Pierce, but what is the harm in just seeing if she can keep up with the boys?
