Report: KG and Melo make up on the phone

Chuck - Red's Army January 8, 2013 Celtics News, Kevin Garnett 22 Comments

Frank Isola of the New York Daily News brings us up to date on the Carmelo Anthony/Kevin Garnett soap opera:

There are unconfirmed reports that Carmelo became enraged because Garnett said something derogatory about Melo’s wife, TV personality, LaLa

According to a source, Garnett told Carmelo outside Celtics locker room something along lines of “it’s not worth wasting my money on you.”

Melo today: “It’s certain things that you just don’t say to men. I felt we crossed the line. But we’re both at an understanding right now.”

Carmelo claims he spoke with Kevin Garnett. According to a source that conversation took place over the telephone.

Melo wouldn’t elaborate on exactly what Garnett said to spark his little tantrum, but if you believe everything you read on the Internet, Garnett’s comment had something to do with Honey Nut Cheerios and Anthony’s wife.

I still think Melo deserves a suspension.

    great picture to boot!
I definitely think Melo let it be known that he “called” KG to smooth things over in a last ditch effort to avoid suspension.

Much ado about nothing. Fact is the Knicks lead the Atlantic Division and will probably be winning their first division title in almost 20 years. Celtics are an old aging bunch, their time is over.

      “Realistic”..lol.

    • LA Flake January 8, 2013 at 4:46 pm

Yeah. We REALLLLLLY want to win our division because that’s our goal. LMFAO

The Knicks are older than the Celtics, overall. Sheed is 400 years old, Kidd is even older. Much older.

Remember last year when Lin was the second coming of Jordan? Championships aren’t won in January. 6 games back is nothing.

The truth is the Knicks were hot in December.Let`s see what happens in April.

    • LA Flake January 8, 2013 at 4:49 pm

As long as Carmelo and STAT are leading the Knicks, they’re going NOWHERE. They’re now apparently counting on JR Smith and some dude from Bell Biv Devoe named “Chump” to put them over the top.

      No. I’m serious. No joke.

They lead now but let’s see in the postseason what happens!! If history repeats itself they’ll choke in the frat round and when this Celtics team gets hot like they are now with their D, say what you want now but you’ll be gone in the postseason once again in the first round!!

if what Melo did doesn’t call for suspenion then what does?????? Oh I forgot….touching a ref. How crazy is that?????

    • SF Celts Fan January 8, 2013 at 8:47 pm

There has to be a suspension. His actions were extreme. If there isn’t a suspension Stern is a complete fraud.

      • Jay January 9, 2013 at 8:04 am

Zach Randolph wasn’t suspended for doing the exact same thing. Just fined. Sorry, butthurt Celtics fan.

He called him a Ratchet because that is what melo is a ratchet. Start the chant “ratchet”

NBA protects it’s stars, don’t expect a suspension. ESPN is already contradicting the intial report and playing it as if nothing happened.

Probabaly the Knick organization not tolerating said behaviour and demanding Carmelo apologize . Melo was the one running off court being an idiot carrying things too far. Waiting outside the Celtics bus…he’s a head case.

He does regardless of start kevin said. Cloud have been handled like that to begin with. At least A game. That shit can’t be going on.

I just read on NBAtv bottom line that Marshmelo was named eastern conference player of the week.

Wow. If that isn’t THE fitting end to this story.

    • eddysamson January 9, 2013 at 10:17 am

He was named it before this happened

I love how in many of the articles I’ve read in NY Post, or ESPN at the end–I keep seeing, “its unclear if both KG and Carmelo will be subjected to disciplinary action” I don’t understand in anyway how a case could be made against KG at all?

  13. Goku January 9, 2013 at 8:12 am

I just want to know what exactly KG had said that made Antony lost his temper.
